and was really impressed with it. It has a genuinely subtle creep effect, like good weed but with loin-paralyzing "I'm a dot of jelly dwarfed by time" barely-restrained lunatic self-loathing instead of, like, "dude, killer" contentment.

Mon, May 5, 2008 - 7:31 PMI don't agree. I think the idea that a bad movie can ruin the book it's based on is, well, dumb. Also, I think contemporary SFX, Del Toro's intelligence, and Del Toro's budget are all sufficient to come up with an excellent Lovecraft film. I am personally very impressed by Del Toro's work so far and have great confidence in him.
