Re: Baby Shoggoths found in Antarctica!
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 10:42 AMYes skin is OK.
"Echinodermata" means "spiny skin".
And aren't they the ickiest things you ever saw?
I think a shoggoth must have lopped their heads off and they took on a life of their own under the sea...

Re: Baby Shoggoths found in Antarctica!
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 12:29 PMI'm sorry, those don't look like Shoggoths at all. A proper Shoggoth is an amoeba-like creature which is semi-transparent and forms whatever it needs to complete a task, primarily tentacles or teeth.
These little things look more like immature forms of the Great Race. -

Re: Baby Shoggoths found in Antarctica!
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 1:24 PMElder Things, Shoggoths, whatever. Who's to say the immature shoggoth-form doesn't resemble their Elder Thing progenitor in some way?
And my plush shoggoth doll is very starfish-like too, nyhaa!
:-P

Re: Baby Shoggoths found in Antarctica!
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 3:42 PMI was refering to them as the heads of the Elder Things that have been decapitated by a shoggoth (as shoggoths are wont to do). The Elder Things' heads resemble sea stars, if you recall "At The Mountains Of Maddness". Not that those sea stars look like shoggoths.
I'm not that ignorant of my elder eldritch terrors.
